Abstract

In many countries, migration from analog to digital in television (TV) broadcasting technology is being in progress. Indonesia has adopted DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial Second Generation) as the standard of free-to-air digital TV (DTV) broadcasting system. Frequency selective fading due to multipath propagation affects the reception of this terrestrial radio communication system. This paper presents those effects on reception of DVB-T2 signal from the Yogyakarta transmitting stations. The presence of these effects were identified experimentally, based on several received-signal describing quantities obtained from some field-observations on indoor/outdoor stationary/mobile receptions. Examples of these quantities are spectrum flatness measurement (SFM), signal quality (SQ) versus signal intensity (SI), power level (P) versus carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR), CNR versus modulation error ratio (MER), local variation of reception-success, and received data packet. Several numerical examples are: (1) SFM achieved as high as about 0.7 and 0.9 for indoor and outdoor, respectively, and (2) spatial-probability of reception-success at an indoor receiver location varied from 40,06 % to 81,85 %, approximately.

Abstract

3D reconstruction is a task of recovering 3D geometry and color information. There are two categories of 3D object reconstruction: active method, 3D model acquisition can be performed by laser scanner or structured light. Passive methods, reconstruct 3D models by image sequences from a single camera or multiple cameras. Object scanning often demand expensive equipment and special skill to operate. As a simple and low cost approach, 3D reconstruction based images became more popular among the researches. In this study apply passive reconstruction technique, the reconstruction of 3D objects made using images taken from different viewpoint leading to the same object using a digital camera.To determine the corresponding points of the two views used epipolar geometry and Direct Linear Triangulation algorithm (DLT). All required parameters are extracted from the image itself, without any calibration of the camera before. The reconstruction process can divided into four part: first, feature point extraction. Second estimate the fundamental matrix from point correspondences, third compute the camera matrix, and the end compute 3D point from image points. All the required parameters are recovered from the images. As objects of experiment used a miniatur of a statue. Experiment result show the residual error from estimation fundamental matrix is 9.9051 x10-04, and reprojection error 1.714 x 10-03 pixel. Visually, the reconstructed 3D model reseamble the shape of the original object.

Abstract

Visual reconstruction and modeling of three dimensional (3-D) object is an emerging research topic in computer vision and photogrammetry fields. Nowadays, many commercial products are developed to obtain 3-D model of rigid object, starting from small ancient heritages to city landscape. Such commercial tools are very expensive and not accessible for education and research purpose. This paper aims to present a low-cost approach to generate a 3-D model from geometry of multiple two-dimensional (2-D) images using consumer-level Digital Single Lens Reflection (DSLR) camera. Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) algorithm was used to obtain 3-D point cloud. Texturization of 3-D object was generated by implementing Convex Hull and Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) algorithms. Experimental result of small Merlion Singapore statue and large Herz-Jesu building shows that the proposed low-cost method is able to visually reconstruct small and large objects by using 10-20% feature points detected on 2D images.

Abstract

ZigBee standard can be used in wireless sensor networks (WSN) with a mesh topology. WSN which formed WPAN that uses ZigBee standard has the capability to thousands of WSN devices can be combined in a single WPAN. With that ability need to do testing WPAN performance parameters to get the number of WSN devices for the best performance in mesh topology. Using simulation program, the research measure throughput, traffic (sent, receive and drop), delay and hop number parameters. Testing about the influence of the number of WSN devices is done by running a simulation of the 20 kind WPAN where every WPAN has one WSN gateway and the number of WSN devices ranging from 5 and increasingly by 5 to reach the 100 WSN devices in a single WPAN. The results showed that WPAN performance with ZigBee standard in mesh topology has the best conditions when the maximum number WSN devices achieve 20 WSN devices.

Abstract

Protocol IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee is a standard for low power personal network. This paper discusses about router, end device and coordinator using ZigBee protocol in term of distance and time to join. Testing carried out by pairing and On/Off method that constitute communication model from router or end device to coordinator. The result showed that with pairing methods could far distance until outside building with further distance about 65 meters, while the distance using On/Off method can reach few room in indoor area. Longest time to join need about 1 minute 15 seconds. Compare with pairing method that always connected, On/Off method need more time to connect in ZigBee Network.

Abstract

The growth of current wireless networks has increased rapidly. The growth of information technology and telecommunications technology requires interoperability, joint regulation and various solutions to solve the increasingly complex problems, such as computer network security issues on wireless networks. An evaluation is needed to maintain and re-assess the stability of the network to remain adequate. This research resulted a model as a result of evaluation that can be used as a useful recommendations to improve the security of a wireless computer network access which affects the performance on the network at the Headquarters of Engineering Faculty of Gadjah Mada University.

Abstract

Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has aweakness that lies at the high power variation. Power variationis stated in peak-to-avarage power ratio (PAPR). PAPR is the ratio between the maximum and average power of OFDM signal at the certain time frame. High PAPR value will result in nonlinear distortion when operating on non linear devices such as high power amplifier (HPA). Therefore, it is necessary to find way to reduce PAPR value. In this paper, we used PAPR reduction simulation using clipping techniques. PAPR reduction is done by clipping of the output signal of IFFT block which has a PAPR value exceeds the clipping level clipping value is determined by the ratio of the test using the clipping ratio is 0.8 and 1.4. Clipping provides complimentary cumulative effect of improving the quality of the distribution function (CCDF) and decreased quality of Bit Error Rate (BER). Finally, the smaller the value of the clipping ratio CCDF quality improvement will be higher and the BER degradation will be even greater.
